Next Steps for Spiritual Growth

In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus commanded us to make disciples. Then in Ephesians 4:11-16, Paul instructed us on how to do that - by pastors equipping people, and by people growing and serving.

Here at Highland Nazarene Church, our definition of a disciple is, "A Christian who is fully surrendered to the lordship of Jesus Christ." this definition is derived from Matthew 16:24 and 26:39. With that in mind, the following is our process for developing disciples and training leaders.

Step #1 - The Welcome Class
This class informs new people about the mission, vision, values and beliefs of the church and gets them started in the discipleship process.

Step #2 - The Lordship (Maturity) Class
This class guides people into making Jesus the lord of their lives and how to become a true disciple of Jesus Christ. (Live the Christian life victoriously.)

Step #3 - The Partnership (Ministry) & Membership (Unity) Classes
The partnership class helps people to understand that God wants all Christians to discover their spiritual gifts, get involved in a ministry and serve the Lord faithfully.

The membership class teaches people what's involved in becoming a member of the church and how to help us strengthen the unity and harmony of the church.

Step #4 - The Leadership (Quality) Classes
The leadership classes train people in the characteristics of a spiritual leader, help prepare them to serve in a leadership position and help us maintain the quality of the church.
